A family day out at the RAF Museum, London!
What a fantastic day out and it's FREE!!!!
So we packed up the car with umbrellas, coats, a picnic and a buggy and we headed into London. Being just under an hours drive meant that little squish could have a nap in the car so that was a bonus!
We had a walk around the first shelter with helicopters and information all about the RAF jobs. So many job roles some little, some big but all so so important. They had an amazing model aircraft to show this by the entrance as you come in. We spent some time naming all the jobs on the aircraft, this was good fun. We saw the little sit on planes for the kids followed by a game on the screen. We both tried the multitask game to see if we could multitask and do 4 things at once on the screen. I didn't do too badly but the husband on the other hand didn't do as well as me so that was funny.
We then headed through a little area you could play aircraft games, with headphones and maps. This was fun for all the kids to take part in. Very busy area too with lots of families trying to answer some quiz questions as well they had on a table. Once we had a look around here we headed through to the coffee shop and right next to the coffee shop they had a huge Sunderland flying boat. This was incredible such a fantastic experience walking through seeing what was onboard. The beds, the loo and the kitchen too. It was amazing!
Once we completed this we headed outside to the play area for a while so the girls could have a play. A lovely play area with a slide, a little helicopter and a play house too. The rain soon then came so we headed in to the restaurant.
The girls were definitely hungry that's for sure. We enjoyed sausage rolls, chips, cake and Coffees. The restaurant was lovely with large beautiful windowed ceilings very light and airy too. I sat and enjoyed my coffee while Daddy returned to the play area once the rain stopped with big squish. And little squish enjoyed some biscuit's with Mummy while Mummy finished her coffee. I was actually offered a new coffee a nice fresh hot one because my coffee went cold feeding the baby lol! Lovely staff and so happy to help and chat too.
Once lunch was all done we headed round to find some more aircraft's. So much more to see. You could spend a couple of days here and still not see it all. It's huge and so much to see. But we found the indoor play area so we stopped here too before watching the simulator. The play area was great with so many kids running around and having fun big squish joined in too. Little squish enjoyed her nap so win win another coffee for Mummy. But the simulator is something i think we can do next time as it looks like a lot of fun.
Well we spent the afternoon walking around the huge aircraft's inside ... we saw so many .... But so many we didn't see too so next time we can have a look at what we didn't see.
Once the girls had a little snack we headed back to the gift shop so they could both take home a little treat each from our day out :-)
Such a lovely cheap and fun day out and we highly recommend it .... even on a wet day as it's all inside .... so much to see and so much to read and learn .... a Sunday well spent!
